“La Caida”
Artist: David Frias
Title: “La Caida”
Medium: Acrylic on board
Year: 2025
La Caída was born from a visceral, silent moment: the discovery of a small bird that had fallen from its nest and lay lifeless in a park in Mexico. That image—the fragile body, the exposed entrails, the absolute solitude—became a mirror of my own inner state. The bird, destined to fly, never would. That’s how I felt: aware of my potential, yet paralyzed by a lack of hunger, drive, and decision.
This painting represents the loss of an unlived future, the flight that never began. It is a reflection on the power to choose between remaining in symbolic death or awakening and taking flight. Through this piece, I channel the pain, guilt, and hope that emerge when one confronts their own fall and decides whether to keep falling… or learn to fly.
