Aurora Gage
Meet Aurora Gage, a Cache Valley silversmith and artist, who creates distinctive pieces that feel discovered as much as they are made, drawing from nature and personal experiences.
Meet Aurora Gage
Aurora Gage is a self-taught jeweler and painter based in Cache Valley whose work is shaped by a lifelong relationship with making. Moving fluidly between mediums from an early age—painting, ceramics, and sewing—she developed an instinct for material and form that continues to guide her practice today.
Her path into jewelry began with a single antique ring, an object that sparked an enduring fascination with adornment and the histories carried within it. What started as collecting soon deepened into study, as Gage immersed herself in the craftsmanship and cultural significance of historical pieces. Years spent traveling for work expanded this perspective, offering time in museums across the country and strengthening her appreciation for the lineage of art and the stories embedded in objects.
Before fully turning to jewelry, Gage worked as a machine operator, where she discovered an affinity for metal fabrication. This hands-on experience with industrial processes became a quiet foundation for her later work at the bench. In 2024, following a period of personal transition, she committed to teaching herself silversmithing, drawing from both contemporary techniques and the construction methods found in antique jewelry.
Gage’s work is informed by an ongoing dialogue between past and present, shaped by her interest in collected objects, lived experience, and the natural world. Her pieces often carry a sense of having been gathered or uncovered rather than simply made, reflecting her inclination toward history, texture, and transformation. She continues to build her practice through exploration, community, and a sustained curiosity about the world around her.
