Kid’s Summer Art Program in Logan, Utah
Art Explorers is a Flexible Summer Art Camp for kids ages 5–15. Different mediums. Different artists. Different worlds. Every single week.
Summer Art Classes for Kids
This summer, we're throwing out the rulebook.
Growing Artists Summer: Art Explorers is a flexible, exploration-focused art program at The Logan Gallery — designed for kids who want to create, discover, and get a little messy along the way.
Each week has a new focus — a different medium, a different style, a different artist from history — so every class feels fresh. One week it's impressionism and oil pastels, the next it's abstract expressionism and house paint. No two weeks are the same.
No rigid curriculum. No pressure. Just real art, real materials, and a whole lot of creative freedom.

How it Works
Art Explorers runs Monday through Friday, June 1st through August 15th, with two session options each day:
Morning Session | 10am – 12pm | Taught by Morrigan Hayes
Afternoon Session | 1pm – 3pm | Taught by TBA
Choose your session, then choose how many days per week fit your summer. Pay weekly — skip the weeks you're traveling, come back when you're ready.

What to Expect
Every week, students dive into a new creative world — exploring the techniques, materials, and ideas of artists throughout history. One week might be painting like the Impressionists, the next might be sculpture inspired by ancient cultures, the next might be graphic design influenced by the Bauhaus movement.
Students will explore:
A wide range of mediums — paint, charcoal, clay, collage, printmaking, and more
The styles and stories of artists throughout history
Creative problem-solving and personal expression
How to look at art — and the world — differently
All skill levels welcome. No experience necessary. New students can join any week.
May Theme: The Art of Visual Storytelling
Composition, Space, and Visual Balance
This month, students explore how artists use composition to guide the viewer’s eye and tell a visual story. Through guided exercises and hands-on practice, students learn how to arrange objects, use space intentionally, and create clear focal points within their drawings. Rather than focusing on what to draw, this class focuses on how to organize what they see—helping students move beyond copying and begin making purposeful visual decisions.
Throughout the month, students will practice:
Creating clear focal points to guide the viewer’s attention
Using positive and negative space to strengthen a composition
Arranging objects for balance and visual interest
Exploring simple composition tools like cropping and framing
Understanding how placement and spacing affect the story a drawing tells
Simplifying or adjusting a scene to make the image more effective
As in all Growing Artists classes, the focus is on building real art skills while keeping the process engaging and supportive. Students work at their own level and receive individualized feedback.
No previous classes are required — new students are always welcome.
